OCTOLA PRIVATE WILDERNESS

Janne Honkanen believes eco tourism and luxury in Lapland should be secluded, far from the crowds, and to be at one with nature, but with access to every conceivable private service and comfort. It it here that he finds the inspiration and relaxation that he wishes to share with guests. Octola’s exclusive accommodation in the Arctic was designed to meet the needs of its experiential guests, a unique kind of health spa for the spirit, where you can leave behind the stress of the day to day world, and savour the healing qualities of Lapland’s stunningly beautiful natural environment.

I want you to feel relaxed and in touch with pure nature – Janne Honkanen / Founder Octola

NORTHERN LIGHTS / AURORA

Octola is one of the best locations in the Arctic to view the Northern Lights!

The Outwardly Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, begin high in the Earth’s atmosphere, at altitudes from 60 to more than 250 miles – when charged particles from the sun become trapped in the Earth’s magnetic field. The result is a colourful, dancing light show!

Northern Lights season is Mid August – April (almost 9 months long)

REINDEER HERDING

Octola have their very own private reindeer herding area in winter time where you can go and feed the reindeer anytime you want.

FAT BIKING / TREKKING

Take on the wilderness in an entirely new way – Fat Biking. This is mountain biking turned up to the max – chunky, extra grip tyres allow you to ride your fat bike through the snow like never before. An Octola Wilderness Guide will be delighted to show you some amazing locations, be it on fat bike, snow shoeing or Husky Sled – You decide!

LEARN SURVIVAL SKILLS

Learn year round survival and camping skills along with many other educational activities, such as learning to make a fire, learn to read the forest and animal footsteps and more!

SNOWMOBILING

Snowmobiling through open terrain can feel like you are flying! That may be why the locals prefer them as a means of transport in the winter and also use them to herd reindeer. In winter time Octola offer mini snowmobile driving for children and many other children’s outdoor activities which are suitable for adults too, like making snow-sculptures.

SANTA CLAUS PROGRAMS

Octola is in the heart of Santa Claus country with Rovaniemi being Santa’s official home town. Let the kids prove to Santa they have been good or even the adults for that matter and get wrapped up in the Santa spirit with one of Octola’s Santa Claus programs.
